The DLG (German Agricultural Society) has chosen the "Young Winemakers of the Year 2018".
First place went to Dominik Münzenberger from the Münzenberger Winery in Zornheim (Rheinhessen). Second place was shared by Peter Geil, operations manager of the Fürstlich Castell'schen Domänenamt, Castell (Franconia) and Anika Hattemer-Müller, Sektmanufaktur Hattemer und Wein- & Sektgut Nikolaushof, Gau-Algesheim (Rheinhessen). Münzenberger and Geil are members of the "Generation Riesling" association.
In three rounds of the DLG Young Winemakers Competition, the young talents put their knowledge and skills to the test. In the qualification round, expertise in the areas of oenology, wine sensory analysis and international wine business is first tested in theory and practice. In the second round, the quality of the wine is assessed within the framework of the Federal Wine Award. In the final round, the best participants finally face a jury of wine experts, lecturers and oenologists in person.
