The French AXA Millésimes group takes over the Platt Vineyard in Sonoma from the US investment fund Russian River Partners. The latter had bought the winery, founded by Lew Platt in 2003, in 2015. According to Christian Seely, managing director of AXA Millésimes, the reason for the investment is the "extraordinary terroir for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay", which is comparable to that in Burgundy. The estate has about 16 hectares planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with another 4.5 hectares to be planted soon.

"We believe the potential for producing great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines is immense, and we look forward to developing that potential and producing outstanding wines here in the years to come," CEO Christian Seely commented on the acquisition.

AXA Millésimes already owns the Château Pichon Baron and Château Pibran (Pauillac), Château Suduiraut (Sauternes), Domaine de l'Arlot (Côtes de Nuits), Quinta do Noval and Quinta do Passadouro (Douro), Disznókő (Tokaj) as well as Outpost Vineyards (Napa).
