Horst and Sandra acid from the winery Horst Sauer **** in Escherndorf can be happy about another award: the honorary prize of the government of Lower Franconia. District President Dr Eugen Ehrmann, the Franconian Wine Queen Eva Brockmann and Winegrowing President Artur Steinmann presented the prize at the winery. In his speech, Dr Ehrmann emphasised the winemaker's special down-to-earth attitude: "You have not only rendered outstanding services to your own winery, but also to the entire region. This morning on the way here, the comparison of your winery with a lighthouse came to my mind. Your winery may be located in the valley, but it shines far beyond the vineyards and beyond Franconia".
Horst Sauer thanked above all his daughter Sandra, who joined the winery in 2004 and whose ideas have since had a decisive influence on shaping and developing the winery. About his philosophy he said: "Always stay on the ball. Every year begins with new challenges and opportunities. Don't let arrogance arise! We love order and structure, are extremely curious, extremely precise, extremely hard-working and place a lot of value on aesthetics. I don't think the customer even knows how much thought we put into a glass of wine," says the winemaker.
