The Italian winery Arnaldo Caprai in Umbria, known for its Sagrantino di Montefalcone, has received the award "Welcome. Working for refugee integration" for its commitment to promoting an inclusive society. Caprai is the only winery in Italy to receive this award. Since 2016, the winery has been working with Caritas and local social associations to integrate immigrants into the workforce and has employed over 200 asylum seekers so far. Caprai offers workers fair and direct contracts without external recruitment agencies.

Through the refugee integration programme initiated by the UNHCR, a total of 9,300 asylum seekers have already been integrated into the labour market in Italy. For the managing director of the Arnaldo Caprai winery, Marco Caprai, the training of employees is particularly close to his heart in order to further develop their potential: "These young committed people are an important resource and they are often the best part of the countries from which they flee: many of them have studied and it is nice to see that they find an opportunity here, a place to put down roots. This is a story that dispels the myth that immigration is just a problem." Furthermore, he says, "The sustainability of a company cannot and must not be limited to its environmental and economic activities. The company is made up of people, and it is not only our wine that acts as a brand ambassador: Our employees are the best testimonials we can have to communicate the values and culture of our winery in a clear and transparent way.".
