Numerous wine lovers from all over Germany have also used the "Wine Discoverer Weeks" in this special year to discover the diversity and special features of the local wines for themselves. This was announced by the German Wine Institute (DWI) as the organizer of the event, which took place for the ninth time this year. With the support of the DWI, around 150 selected restaurateurs and specialist retailers presented their wines from German wine-growing regions under the motto "Become a wine discoverer" from 4 to 20 September 2020.

For the fourth time already, the wine discoverers took a vinophile walk through Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Münster, Nuremberg, Berlin, Cologne and Leipzig on the "Open Wine Days" - the three Saturdays within the period of wine tasting. In the participating wine shops, three German wines were available for tasting for five euros per station, plus information and anecdotes from the respective hosts. Outside of the eight cities, the participating businesses were involved with creative ideas ranging from high-quality tasting concepts to wine-cultural events.

"All partners involved prepared their activities very well and implemented them professionally with the help of our adapted hygiene concept," praised DWI Managing Director Monika Reule. According to DWI, the partners of the "Open Wine Days" rated as very positive the fact that, thanks to the advance registrations for the fixed tasting dates, there was a good overview of the number of guests, thus avoiding crowds in front of the wine shops.

Cooperation partners include the "Wine Discoverer Weeks", DWI Schott Zwiesel, Selters, Mercure Hotels and Wein-Plus.
