The well-known Spanish winery Torres in the Pénédes and Jackson Family Wineries from California have jointly founded the organisation "International Wineries for Climate Action" in order to advance in environmental and climate protection and to promote the commitment of further estates. This was announced by Miguel Torres Sr. and Katie Jackson in Barcelona. Both companies have been working intensively on this topic for several years, but have not yet done so together.

Since April 2018, both have been working on a scientifically based model to measure and understand progress and its effects. From this they intend to develop a roadmap in three major steps up to 2045. By that time, wineries worldwide are to emit 80 percent less carbon dioxide than today.

The wineries are to be monitored and certified by an independent organisation. As a first step, Torres and Jackson want to promote the exchange of information so that winemakers and farm managers can share their experiences in production and in the vineyard.
