Since it was not possible to plant vines in all cases due to the corona pandemic, all permits granted, which expire in 2020, are extended by law until 4 May 2021. This was announced by the Chamber of Agriculture (LWK) of Rhineland-Palatinate.

  • New planting permits (GR-N) of the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food from 2017
  • The Chamber points out that administrative sanctions may be imposed by the Directorate of Supervision and Services on a producer who does not make use or does not make proper use of a licence granted, in accordance with EU law.

Due to the unforeseen difficulties faced by winegrowers as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic, the LWK is allowing them, on a one-off basis, to waive their planting permits, which expire in 2020 and are not needed, without adverse effects. In order to protect the farms from administrative sanctions in the current situation, the Chamber informs the affected farms in a separate letter. They must notify the Chamber of their waiver by 31 December 2020. The waiver and information on the licensing system are available on the Internet at https://www.lwk-rlp.de/de/weinbau/rebflaechen/genehmigungen-fuer-rebpflanzungen/
