The French spirits group Rémy Cointreau enters the champagne business for the second time. According to an announcement, the group is currently negotiating with the family owning the Telmont champagne house in Damery to acquire a majority stake. Telmont produces five different champagnes from vintage base to prestige cuvées and vintage editions. According to the company, about one third of the grapes are now organically grown.

In 2011, Rémy Cointreau sold its Champagne holdings to the EPI Group for 412 million euros, having disposed of the Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck brands a year earlier.

According to the announcement, Rémy Cointreau expects the takeover to offer "significant growth potential, especially in international business".
