The Catalan wine company Perelada, owned by the Suqué Mateu family, is now opening its 40 million new winery in the DO Empordà to the public. The project was designed by award-winning architects RCR Arquitectes and is intended to be a flagship for eco-efficiency and eco-design. It is the first winery in Europe to receive LEED Gold certification, the world's highest recognition for sustainable building. The building is designed to be multifunctional and, according to the owner family, aims to combine modern production and wine tourism. It reflects both the winemaking tradition and the great potential of the Empordà appellation. The first wines were vinified there in 2020, and the winery will welcome its first visitors from the summer.

"The new Perelada winery is a legacy for future generations. I think it is one of the most exciting projects in European viticulture in the last ten years. It embodies our passion for making great wines and our commitment to evolve through experimentation and innovation," Javier Suqué, President of the Peralada Group, said of the project.
