From 7 to 21 September, large-format bottles from the 15th edition of the Ornellaia***** V endemmia d'Artista will be auctioned at Sotheby's in a charity auction. This year, the bottles were designed by the American artist Joseph Kosuth, a main representative of conceptual art. The focal point is the word "wine" and a quotation from the Roman architect Vitruvius. Kosuth thus refers to the 2020 vintage of Ornellaia, which has the motto "La Proporzione". In the 100 double magnum bottles, the family tree of the word "wine" is embossed as a relief on the bottle; in the ten Imperials (6-litre bottles), each of them unique, it was engraved in the glass.
Among the 12 auction lots are double magnums, Imperials and the only 9-litre Salmanazar. All proceeds will again be donated to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation for the 'Mind's Eye' programme, which provides access to art for people who are blind or visually impaired.
