In the reform of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the detailed regulations on viticulture have now been adopted after a long debate. They almost completely follow the proposals of the European wine associations. According to these, only the information on the energy value (kcal) will be obligatory on the label, no further nutritional information is necessary. The list of ingredients, which has been mandatory for food for a long time, can also be communicated there with a QR code.

With the new rules, the intensively discussed alcohol reduction for PDO and PGI wines will be allowed, but complete dealcoholisation is only possible for entry-level table wines.

The extension of EU permits for planting will be extended until 2045, as announced. The annual limit of one percent growth applies, as well as two reviews in 2028 and 2040. This is to give wine regions the opportunity to adapt to changing climatic conditions.
