Winery Alois Lageder

The South Tyrolean winery Alois Lageder **** has released a cuvée from several vintages of its top chardonnay Löwengang for the second time. The wine, called "Löwengang Inedito II", consists of the 2013 to 2021 vintages and is to be offered exclusively in top European gastronomy.

The Chardonnay Löwengang is the most important wine for the winery, emphasise Helena and Alois Clemens Lageder: "It has shaped the winery, our family and our history." Alois Lageder himself remembers: "When Robert Mondavi gave me the impulse to develop Chardonnay in barriques in the 1980s, he said: 'Have you ever tried anything else? You have to have comparisons, question things. Tradition is important, but you also have to try new things and improve'. The Löwengang Inedito II represents precisely this endeavour."

For the Inedito, a few barriques from each Löwengang parcel are kept back each year and mature for different lengths of time in the cellar on the full lees. The Inedito I from the 2013 to 2015 vintages was released in 2017. According to son Clemens Alois Lageder, such a vintage blend is "new, first and unique - in Italian: inedito." The winery publishes a list of restaurants where the wine is available on its website.
