The Marco de Jerez wine and brandy route is the most visited wine destination in Spain. This was announced by the Asociación Española de Ciudades del Vino (ACEVIN). With more than 333,000 tourists, the region around the sherry city of Jerez de la Frontera is ahead of Rioja Alta, Ribera del Duero, Penedès and Rioja Alavesa. Jerez is also in the lead in terms of the number of visitors to the wineries, with almost 300,000.

Overall, the number of wine tourists in Spain in 2022 was 52 percent higher than in 2021, at almost 2.5 million, although this is still a fifth less than before the pandemic. About 80 percent of the travellers are from Spain. The share of international visitors increased by about a third from 2021 to 2022.

According to ACEVIN, wine tourism in Spain generated around 75 million euros last year, 39 per cent more than in 2021, but 12 per cent less than in 2019. The most popular time to travel was October, followed by the peak holiday season in August.
