Never before have German winegrowers sold as much wine to China as between May 2016 and 2017. 3.7 million litres of wine worth 16 million euros were exported during this period, according to figures from the German Wine Institute. This represents an increase in volume of 27.3 percent and an increase in sales of 23.6 percent compared to the previous year.
According to the figures, China has thus become the fourth largest export market for German wine producers. 37.3 percent of the total volume of wine exported from Germany now ends up in the "Middle Kingdom".
