In the 2017/2018 wine year, the Freyburg-Unstrut winegrowers' association sold 2.85 million litres of wine. This exceeds the record result of the previous year by twelve percent. At the same time, the turnover increased by eleven percent, which means that the cooperative exceeded the ten million euro mark for the first time.

According to the winegrowers' association, the good figures are due to expanded sales areas in the food retail trade (LEH). Thus, more retail chains are offering the wines and sparkling wines on their shelves. Accelerators of success are new products such as the Secco line, which was developed especially for individual retail partners.

In addition, sales through the company's own sales channels have also increased. In the financial year from September 2017 to August 2018, the Freyburger Weingalerie was able to book more than one million euros in revenue in its coffers for the first time. And the online business has also gained. After the revision of the shop system and targeted internet advertising, its turnover increased by 50 percent. However, the share of these wine sales in the total turnover is less than two percent.

The current wine year will hardly be able to reach these sales figures, says managing director Hans Albrecht Zieger, evaluating the 2018 harvest. According to the report, only 2.4 million litres of must reached the cellars, after more than three million litres in each of the past four years.
