More and more wineries have started brewing beer: The French cooperative Rocca Maura in Roquemaure has announced that it will enter the beer business with its own brewery. The 60-member cooperative has invested around 100,000 euros in the purchase of brewing equipment and recently launched two beers. The intention is to integrate barley production into the vineyards in order to be able to produce the beer regionally, according to a statement by the cooperative. The hops come from Alsace. According to cellar master Valentin Royer, beer production is intended to "secure a constant income for our members, regardless of the situation in the wine industry". The aim is to produce around 120 hl per year. Already since 2018, Austrian winemaker Ludwig Hofbauer has also been marketing his Winzerbräu beers and has had great success with them.
