The first Chardonnay from the Bordeaux growing region St. Emilion has been officially released. It is the 2019 Cuvée Elena from Château La Grace Dieu des Prieurs. However, the wine is not yet to go directly on sale, but will be auctioned off for charitable purposes. The Chardonnay shoots were planted on old Merlot vines by the Château in 2016. In total, the estate now has one hectare of vines. The wine from this was aged for twelve months in new barriques. The first harvest in 2018 was only distributed to some winemakers and consultants to get their opinion.
