DWV President Klaus Schneider has been confirmed in office at the annual meeting of the German Winegrowers' Association as well as that of AREV (Assembly of Winegrowing Regions of Europe). Schneider received a majority of 94 percent from around 200 participants. His five vice-presidents are Heinz-Uwe Fetz (Bauern- und Winzerverband Rheinland-Nassau e.V.), Hermann Hohl (Weinbauverband Württemberg e.V.), Ingo Steitz (Weinbauverband Rheinhessen e.V.). Thomas Walz (Badischer Weinbauverband e.V.), and Hans Albrecht Zieger (Weinbauverband Saale-Unstrut e.V.), who was elected to the DWV Presidium for the first time.

In his "speech on the situation", he focused on the profiling of origin, which he initiated in 2017 and has since been the subject of heated debate. In it, he warned that all conservation communities must be "aware of the opportunity, but also of the responsibility for their area". He appealed to the winegrowers and those in charge of the associations: "We all have to make compromises for the good of the area regarding origin profiling."

Schneider expressed his annoyance at the federal government's position on the reform of the Food Information Ordinance. By demanding that all ingredient information be printed on the label, it was preventing the development of digitalisation, he said. The e-label is "a real opportunity for producers". It offers the chance to "make more information available".

Klaus Schneider also expressed his concern about the current economic problems of winegrowers: "It is true that the price of a litre of German wine has risen in the food retail trade, and German wines are also increasing in value and quantity in export. Nevertheless, the current cost increases as well as inflation are not reflected in the prices for wine or bulk wine."
