The wine-growing region of Ribera del Duero is located in the north of Spain and has the status of a protected designation of origin. Strict quality regulations apply to the wines here. The area stretches over a length of 120 kilometres and follows the course of the Duero River, from which it takes its name. The famous red wines of the region must consist of at least 75 percent of the noble Tempranillo grape variety.
