French wine collector François Audouze has donated his collection of 4,000 historic corks to Portuguese cork producer Amorim. They are on display there in the new Héritage House museum. Audouze kept the corks after his tastings of old wines. They include stoppers from wines from before 1730, from 1769 and a liqueur wine from the Naples region from 1780. He also gave the museum some rare capsules from Romanée-Conti, Château d'Yquem and Mouton Rothschild*****. "I wanted to give Amorim access to very old corks in order to analyse them, as they have a very advanced research centre," said Audouze.

But that's not all: the technician also wants to find a place for his collection of 8,000 empty bottles, including around 250 bottles from Romanée-Conti and almost 300 from Yquem "I'm looking for an exhibition venue such as a museum to showcase these empty bottles from different eras and shapes," he says. If this is not possible, he has given his children the task of destroying the bottles. In this way, he wants to prevent them from falling into the hands of counterfeiters.
