Château d'Yquem has presented a vintage Sauternes for a retail price of around 60 euros. This was announced by the winery. "All wine lovers like Sauternes, but very few drink it. We want to make it accessible with our new wine," said winemaker Sandrine Garbay. It only comes into the shops with the name of the region. The first wine in the current 2017 vintage currently costs almost 400 euros per bottle. The vintage-free wine consists of a blend of four to five vintages, including the current one. They are blended with each other with a Solera-like concept during barrel maturation.

Until 2005, the château owned by LVMH sold the batches that were not suitable for the wine as cask wine according to oenologists. Pierre Lurton, the new director of the estate at the time, decided to give a cuvée to the employees of the estate. This was a great success: in 2014 "Sauternes 1" was filled for the first time for the 5,000 employees of LVMH. The wine is now on sale.
