Carolin Klöckner (middle photo) from Württemberg is the 70th German Wine Queen. The 23-year-old from Vaihingen/Enz won the election in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse on October 28. As new German Wine Princesses, Inga Storck (right) from the Palatinate and Klara Zehnder (left) from Franconia complete the trio of German Wine Majesties 2018/2019.

At the election gala in the Saalbau in Neustadt, six candidates demonstrated their wine sensory, rhetorical and communication skills in several rounds of matches. They first commented on their own feature film and mastered a concealed wine tasting where the grape variety had to be identified and assigned to a growing region. Afterwards, the task was to incorporate as many Finnish terms as possible into a one-minute speech at a suitable point and to identify a wine personality in teams of two with clever questions. Finally, the three finalists each had to give another short speech based on a wisdom from a "fortune cookie".

Carolin Klöckner convinced the expert jury with her expert knowledge, charm and quick-wittedness and won the sympathies of the approximately 800 spectators. On behalf of the German Wine Institute (DWI), she will now be on tour for a year as ambassador for German wine at over 200 events in Germany and abroad. She will be leaving her studies in agricultural sciences at the University of Hohenheim for the time being.
