Hollywood star Brad Pitt has filed a new indictment in Los Angeles against his ex-wife Angelina Jolie for selling her shares in the Miraval rosé winery in southern France. According to the AFP news agency and "Der Spiegel", he accuses her in the new indictment of wanting to "cause him harm" by selling to a "stranger with malicious connections and intentions". The buyer of the shares was the Latvian liquor company of Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler. Pitt's lawyers argue that Shefler maintains relations with the entourage of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This could "permanently damage" the reputation of the winery. However, according to "Spiegel", Shefler has long been considered a vehement critic of Putin, who has been living in exile for a long time.

With the submitted documents, the purchase price became known for the first time: The château had been taken over by both of them in 2008 for about 25 million euros. It also included a château with 35 rooms as well as 500 hectares of land, on which wine is partly cultivated. Both are said to have acquired equal shares. Since then, the wine production has been run by the renowned Perrin winemaking family from Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

In February 2022, Pitt sued against Jolie's sale to Shefler. According to his statements, he and Jolie had agreed after their divorce in 2016 that the shares could not be sold without each other's consent. However, he did not give this consent.
