The AOC Languedoc is launching a new digital tool in July for connected visits to vineyards and wineries. The application was developed by the start-up company Vinoways from Montpellier for the Terrasses du Larzac region. "Just like in museums, there is an audio guide that provides comments and explanations there on various objects or points of a visit. With this application, visitors will receive explanations and hints at places worth seeing or at the appellation's wineries, explains coordinator Vanessa Méline.
The web-based application, which does not have to be installed on the mobile phone, is already active at the level of the wineries and will now be used for the first time in the entire appellation area. The audio content will be recorded in the form of podcasts, which will be used to communicate the places of interest in the wine-growing region that are highlighted in the app. The three most famous sights Cirque de Navacelles, Lac du Salagou and Gorges de l'Hérault would be explained as well as less frequented places. "We hope that about 20 winegrowers will join the project to also make audio tours of their wineries possible," explains Méline.
The web app, called 'Itinérance en terrasses du Larzac', will also offer walking tours where visitors can choose and prepare their route in advance and even book time slots for visits with participating winemakers. "Most of our winegrowers don't have enough staff to take care of wine tourists all the time," said Vanessa Méline. That's why the app can also be used to make appointments for visits in good time. In addition, already existing routes are integrated along the lines of the wine routes, so that guests can also wander around on podcast tours that were produced on different topics. These included geology, the environment and the history of the appellation.
