The en-primeur campaign for the subscription of the 2020 Bordeaux is gaining momentum. After Château Cheval Blanc was offered to retailers last week at a price of 380 euros per bottle (around 540 euros for end consumers) and immediately sold out, other prominent wines are now coming onto the market. The prices are on average about three per cent higher than those for the 2019s, which are considered to be of extremely high quality, but still almost 30 per cent below those for the 2018s. This had made the en-primeur campaign of the 2019s a success despite the Corona pandemic. The quality of the 2020 Bordeaux is considered to be somewhat more inconsistent, but overall very high, and some wines are already being talked about as the greatest vintage ever. In general, the wines from the right bank are likely to be quite hedonistic and accessible, those from the left bank very classic and long-lived.
