Alain Voge, one of the pioneers of viticulture on the northern Rhône, has died at the age of 81 years. The winery with his name is still one of the most important Syrah producers in the Cornas and St. Peray growing regions. He worked on his parents' vineyard from 1961 and took over in 1964 after his father's death. In the 1970s he coined the term "Vielles Vignes" for wines from very old vines for the first time.

In the 1980s he was one of the pioneers of fermentation of white wines in wooden barrels. From 2004, he worked with his business partner and plant manager Albéric Mazoyer and later with the well-known wine consultant Michel Chapoutier. He first converted his business to organic production and later to biodynamics. To this day, his wines still receive the highest ratings.
