For the 55th Vinitaly, which will take place from 2 to 5 April in Verona, the fair organiser VeronaFiere expects over 4,000 exhibitors and foreign buyers from 30 countries. This means that the largest event of the Italian wine industry is "fully booked and sold out". As Federico Bricolo, President of VeronaFiere, explains, the selection of buyers was made at the Vinitaly Roadshow, which directly visited the most important export markets in 13 stages in nine countries in Europe, America and Asia. A special focus will be placed on the markets of China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam in the future. They account for 20 percent of the next international destinations of Italian wine companies.

In this way, Vinitaly defies the trend towards smaller events, which is at the expense of the big fairs. For example, the independent producers' fair, the Fivi Independent Winegrowers' Market, was moved from Piacenza to the larger BolognaFiere exhibition centre in November due to high demand. A new wine fair has been launched in Piacenza instead, also to be held in November.
