Benedikt Belger will become the managing director of the VDP winery Karthäuserhof *** in Eitelsbach near Trier on 1 December. Belger is to drive forward marketing, sales, digitalisation and customer loyalty, explained owner Albert Behler.

In recent years, the Karthäuserhof team has already been strengthened with prominent names: Mathieu Kauffmann (Bollinger, von Buhl, Kauffmann & Christmann) is responsible for the cellar, viticulture and composition of the wines; operations manager Dominik Völk (previously Van Volxem) is in charge of outdoor facilities, production and operations. The previous managing director Christoph Horbach will remain the link to the owner family.

Founded in 1335 by Carthusian monks on the River Ruwer, the winery is the eighth oldest in the world. It has been family-owned since 1811. It is best known for its Rieslings from the Karthäuserhofberg monopole vineyard. The 34-year-old Benedikt Belger has a Master's degree in International Business and previously worked as Managing Director at "III Freunde Weine" in Rheinhessen. The company was founded in 2017 by winemaker Juliane Eller with actor Matthias Schweighöfer and presenter Joko Winterscheidt.
