According to a study by the analysis company IWSR, the global market for wine, sparkling wine, beer and spirits with low or no alcohol content ("NoLo" for "No or Low alcohol") will grow by five per cent in volume in 2023. Around two thirds of this product category is made up of dealcoholised variants with a maximum alcohol content of 0.5% by volume. Sales will amount to around 11.9 billion euros.

The IWSR anticipates annual global volume growth of six per cent for the no-alcohol beverage category until 2027, with dealcoholised beverages growing by seven per cent and low-alcohol beverages by three per cent. This would mean an increase in volume of around a third. From 2019 to 2023, the entire segment grew by eight per cent annually.

For the top 10 markets (Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, South Africa, the UK and the USA), the IWSR expects NoLo products to account for around four per cent of the total volume of alcoholic beverages. In countries with higher alcohol taxes, its share could grow even faster.

Almost a fifth of all consumers in this market segment were new entrants, particularly in the USA and Canada, where NoLo drinks account for around two per cent of the total alcoholic drinks market. In Germany and Spain, the NoLo segment accounts for almost ten per cent.
