The International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year. In addition to a congress at the Palais des Congrès in Dijon, the intergovernmental organisation is planning a conference of the wine-growing ministers of the 50 member countries to drive forward its political commitment.

The "International Network of Wine Cities" initiative is also to be revitalised. This highlights municipalities that have organised scientific and cultural events such as world congresses, symposia and OIV courses, as well as cities or regions that will host events and meetings in the future. The aim is to promote exchange and closer cooperation within the organisation. Municipalities wishing to join the network can apply to the OIV.

"Between 1,200 and 1,500 participants are expected in Burgundy," said Christian Vanier, one of the organisers of the centenary celebrations. The events will take place between 11 and 18 October 2024 in Dijon and the surrounding area.
