After long negotiations, the listed Hamburg wine dealer Hawesko has signed an agreement to take over the Austrian wine retail chain Wein & Co in Vösendorf. With this step, the Hawesko Group is adding a company in the end-customer sector to its "wholesale activities in Austria, which have already existed for 20 years under the Wein Wolf brand," the Group announced.
Wein & Co is one of the most important suppliers of high-quality wines and champagnes in Austria and generated sales of around 43 million euros in the 2016/17 financial year. The company thus fits "ideally into the premium brand community of the Hawesko Group". It will be "retained as an independent brand", Hawesko wrote in a press release. The founder of Wein & Co, Heinz Kammerer, will be available for consultation with his market knowledge and his connections in the industry. It was agreed to maintain silence about the purchase price.
