In Georgia, the state-owned Harvest Management Company buys around 500 tonnes of grapes damaged in a hailstorm at the beginning of September. According to the National Wine Agency of Georgia, more than 3,500 hectares in the country's largest wine-growing region, Kakheti, were affected. For the grapes that can no longer be made into wine, the Harvest Management Company pays 0.90 lari (0.32 euro) per kilogram and will process them into distillates.
