A generational change is about to take place at Château Margaux: Corinne Mentzelopoulos, for 43 years managing director of the holding company that owns the only 1er Grand Cru Classé château in the Médoc, is retiring and handing over responsibility to her son Alexis Leven-Mentzelopoulos. Her daughter, Alexandra Petit-Mentzelopoulos becomes the new chairwoman of the holding supervisory board. She has worked as the Château's deputy general manager for communication for seven years.

Alexis Leven-Mentzelopoulos had joined the holding in 2020 as deputy general director in charge of strategy. Now, the 30-year-old takes over the overall responsibility for the wine estate and its participations. Corinne Mentzelopoulos, who is now 70 years old, also started very young: At the age of only 27, she had succeeded her father.

"My sister and I and continue our family's commitment to make Château Margaux one of the greatest wines in the world," explained Alexis Leven-Mentzelopoulos, "we are not about revolutionising anything. We are on a journey with the estate that existed before us and will exist after us. We are only here to respect Margaux and to improve what needs to be improved. But we are not resting on our laurels".
