The long-time editor-in-chief of the renowned wine magazine "FINE", Thomas Schröder, died a few days ago in Berlin after a short, serious illness at the age of 78. This was announced by the TreTorri publishing house in Wiesbaden. Schröder was responsible for and shaped the magazine over 48 issues since 2008.

Before that, he worked as culture editor at "twen", as literature editor at "Spiegel", for the magazine of "Die Zeit", as deputy editor-in-chief of "Welt am Sonntag" and as head of the culture department of SWF. For more than twenty years he was responsible for the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Magazin" of the "FAZ" as editor-in-chief from its foundation.

As managing partner of the Berlin television production company FTS Media, Schröder was also responsible for demanding cultural documentaries, including the 30-part series "Weinprobe" (Wine Tasting) on Arte as well as ambitious discussion programmes such as the "Philosophische Quartett" (Philosophical Quartet) on ZDF.
