Eva Brockmann from Franconia is the 75th German Wine Queen. The 24-year-old vintner from Haibach in the district of Aschaffenburg was able to prevail over her competitors at the finals in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Jessica Himmelsbach from the Baden wine-growing region and Lea Baßler from the Palatinate came second and third and, together with Brockmann, form the new trio of majesties as German Wine Princesses.

The final was all about personality, charisma and stage presence. In the undercover wine tasting, the candidates had to recognise a wine selected by the audience and then correctly determine the wine-growing region. In the rhetoric game, the participants showed spontaneity and quick-wittedness. In the wine knowledge duel, the three finalists competed against Master of Wine Romana Echensperger. At the end, they answered the question with whom and why they would like to have a glass of wine if they won in a spontaneous, half-minute short speech.

First, a jury of experts judged the candidates' skills, later the audience was allowed to make the final decision. The trio now has around 200 dates to look forward to as ambassadors for German wine around the world. "With Eva Brockmann, Jessica Himmelsbach and Lea Baßler, we once again have an extremely strong and professional team at our side that will represent the wine industry excellently at home and abroad," said the managing director of the German Wine Institute (DWI), Monika Reule, after the election.
