Emirates, the state-owned airline of the Emirate of Dubai, invested around 46 million euros in its wine selection last year. Since 2006, total expenditure on wine has totalled almost one billion euros. Of all the airlines, Emirates has the largest wine selection. Almost six million bottles are stored in France. Many of these will not be served for decades.

In the coming months, the airline will be presenting Grand and Premier Crus from Burgundy such as Montrachet 2011, Chevalier Montrachet 2013, Corton Charlemagne 2014, Échezeaux, Clos Vougeot and Chambertin for Business and First Class. Emirates also plans to introduce several Premier Cru wines from Bordeaux such as Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Margaux, Château Haut-Brion, Château Cheval Blanc and Château d'Yquem in the coming years. Bordeaux for Business Class must mature for at least eight years, and at least twelve years for First Class. Port wines such as Graham's Vintage Tawny 1979 or Dow's Vintage Tawny 1982 will also be offered.

The wines for passengers are tasted and selected both on the ground and during flights. While Economy Class passengers are served one white and one red wine with a geographical indication, Premium Economy Class guests are currently offered the white wine Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, the red wine Bordeaux Château Lagarde 2011 and the sparkling wine Domaine Chandon 2016.
