The Consortio DOC Prosecco presented the first-ever Prosecco DOC Rosé at an online conference a few days ago. The sparkling wine must contain at least ten, maximum 15 percent Pinot Nero as well as a high percentage of the grape variety Glera, which is typical for Prosecco. The lees ageing is at least two months, for classic Prosecco DOC it is only one month.
The consortium announced that currently 84 producers produce the rosé version of Prosecco. They are currently producing around 20 million bottles; with the 2021 vintage, this figure is expected to reach 40 to 50 million bottles. According to current figures, the DOC consortium expects an export quota of 80 to 85 percent. For the white Prosecco DOC, it is 77 percent. By far the most important sales channels are food retailers and restaurants.
