Winemaker Dominique Demarville wants to leave the Laurent-Perrier champagne house after only one year on the job. He had only started work in mid-2019. The "Decanter" reports this. According to the report, "personal reasons" are decisive. "We respect his decision and do not comment on it," said a spokesman for the House.

Demarville had previously worked for over ten years at Veuve Clicquot and before that at Mumm as a winemaker. He is considered one of the most important oenologists in Champagne. Last year, he was to replace Michel Fauconnet, the previous chief oenologist, who had decided to retire for reasons of age. The two of them had worked head to head over the past months to train Demarville. But now Michael Fauconnet wants to continue his work. "He has never stopped acting as Chef de Cave in the past few months," a company spokesman told the decanter. It is not known where Demarville will move to.
