The Champagne house Billecart-Salmon takes over the Domaine de Bellevue of the experimental winemaker Jérôme Bretaudeau with 20 hectares of vineyards in the Loire Valley.

Bretaudeau is considered a driving force in the revival of Muscadet in the region. He also pioneered the Muscadet varietal Melon de Bourgogne. The winemaker produces organically as well as biodynamically and paved a modern path for Muscadet through new winemaking methods and many experiments. The results are idiosyncratic cuvées, many of which escape the AOC classification. Bretaudeau also grows Savagnin, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir.

Mathieu Roland-Billecart, CEO and seventh generation at Billecart-Salmon, met Bretaudeau in 2018. The winemaker has been advising the Champagne House on biodynamic viticulture since that time. The family-run champagne house is now looking to expand the distribution of Bretaudeau's wines in France and overseas.
