Chateau Margaux

Château Margaux ***** has presented the Pavillon Blanc Second Vin, the second wine to the white Pavillon Blanc, for the fifth time in its five-hundred-year history. The white wine has been produced since the early 18th century and is one of the most famous in the Médoc. It has borne its name since 1920.

In recent years, the selection of grapes for the first white wine Pavillon Blanc has become increasingly strict, so that only less than half of the yield is used for it. One of the reasons for this was an analysis of the different soils in the plots, so that the grapes are now harvested at optimum ripeness and vinified individually.

The 2022 vintage was the hottest and driest year for Château Margaux since records began and brought the earliest white wine harvest and the lowest yields in the estate's history. It began on 18 August. Only 8,000 bottles of Pavillon Blanc Second Vin were bottled. They are available in the UK for the equivalent of 111 euros, while the Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux costs around 310 euros. Both wines are single-varietal Sauvignon Blancs.
