About 100 wines were presented to us for this BEST OF, most of them from the year 2009.

The vintage was praised with a lot of advance praise, but the wines did not always live up to the expectations. The extremely hot and dry summer resulted in high sugar levels, but the tannins often remained hard. Thus, many wines seem overripe on the one hand, with compote-like, partly dried fruit, but on the other hand, they also seem a little rough and brittle. The best ones, however, are juicy, dense and compact, a few even surprise with coolness and elegance, but they all need a lot of air to show what they are made of. A little bottle ripeness will do them good, but one should only rarely count on a too long storability. It is better to start drinking in 3 years than in 10.
