For Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay, 2014 was truly not an easy year. So much the more astonishing are the top performances of the vintage, above all from Baden, where one could just as well believe to be dealing with a first-class vintage due to the best wines. The Palatinate had a noticeably more difficult time, but at least with Pinot Blanc, it is also playing at the top this year. Moreover, the best Wuerttemberg wineries are becoming more and more conspicuous, Franconia is also doing remarkably well. Remarkable is the distribution of the top positions for Chardonnay, which slowly seems to be the noblest of all white Burgundy varieties in Germany, too. Here Rheinhessen plays a surprisingly important role and can come up with 2 of the best 5 wines of the vintage. Their producers will soon have to be counted among the first row of German wine producers.

All in all, we tasted about 350 white Burgundy wines from Germany this year. As always, we present the best ones in PDF format, links to all the wines tasted can be found below.
