At home in Alba, ambassadors to the world: the unconditional love for the Langhe region and the desire to create together a legacy worthy of being passed on to the next generation drive the Piedmontese Ceretto family to oenological excellence. To wines that tell the story of their homeland.

"Everything I know is a gift of the years I spent waiting for buds and fruit. To fear the clouds approaching the harvest. Listening to the wind announcing hail. Watching the sun shine down on the vine. To prune the plant and see it pruned. To take a handful of earth in your hand, close your fist and open it to see how the earth crumbles or stays firm." This quote from Marcello Ceretto, who together with his brother Bruno heralded the rise of the family winery in Piedmont in the 1960s, vividly captures the great importance that the land they farmed and winemaking had for them. Words that the descendants of the two also symbolically subscribe to. In the meantime, it is their children who lead the wine dynasty with passion, love and a sense of responsibility for the resources of nature. Marcello's son Alessandro followed his father as winemaker, his sister Lisa is finance manager, Bruno's son Frederico is in charge of sales and his sister Roberta is in charge of communication and events.

Naturally grown

For almost 100 years, the Ceretto family has been dedicated to wine - and thus also to the soil on which they live. For they are aware that the two must go hand in hand. Over the past 20 years, they have thus converted the agriculture in their vineyards step by step to organic cultivation in order to produce as close to nature as possible. "It is love that guides us in every decision: in the vineyards we cultivate, in the cellars where the wines mature, in the landscape where we live," the Cerettos tell us about their drive. A drive that, over the generations, has led to the former winery growing to include three more businesses. What unites them is the location in the Langhe region and the demand for excellence. "We have selected land in the most promising and historically best areas and focused on the single vineyard concept." Thus, the 140 hectares of vineyards include renowned sites such as Asili, Brunate, Bussia and Rocche di Castiglione. In them, the Nebbiolo, Arneis and Moscato grape varieties ripen on different soils, so that they bring different expressions to the wines - but always the best.

Many special moments

A Barolo or Barbaresco from Ceretto is a statement that hardly anyone can resist. But the family also sets standards in the white wine sector - and in a very special way. The Cerettos were among the first to produce single-vineyard Arneis almost 30 years ago, and they continue to do so at the highest level today. Their Blangé Arneis has become an institution. With such an awareness of special moments of pleasure, it is not surprising that the winegrowing family has entered into a culinary partnership. Together with chef Enrica Crippa, they run the only restaurant with three Michelin stars in Piedmont in their home town - in the heart of Alba.
