How do you manage tasting notes?
At the latest with a growing stock in the wine cellar, the question arises of how to manage it optimally. The aim is to systematically record the wines in order to a) find them quickly when you are looking for them, and b) not overlook them so that they do not become undrinkable at some point due to overaging. In addition, one can store the date of purchase, source and price as well as tasting notes.
All this information can certainly be organised to a certain extent with index cards or slips of paper. At some point, however, you may wish to manage your wine cellar by computer. Then you can either use standard applications or special software programmes:
- An individual wine cellar administration can already be set up with a conventional spreadsheet system (e.g. Microsoft Excel) or database system. These have the advantage that you can flexibly adapt them to your own needs. The disadvantage of such standard applications is that they hardly reach the user-friendliness and scope of performance of ready-made solutions.
- Special software designed specifically for the purpose of managing cellar inventories and tasting notes is offered by several service providers. These can be found in the web catalogue under the heading "wine software".
