A number of producers are now launching their top wines on the market a year late. In principle, we welcome this step, since it is precisely the top quality wines that are not made to be enjoyed in their early youth. However, not all of the 2017 wines released this year convinced us as much as we would have expected. Although we tasted the wines several times on different days, as always, we are unsure whether we have not caught them in a completely unwell phase. We will therefore taste many of them again in due course.
In total, we tasted over 250 Silvaner for this BEST OF, the vast majority from Germany, but also individual wines from South Tyrol and Austria. As always, you can find the best here and as PDF.
