"Wein-Plus is an independent medium. We attach great importance to the separation of editorial and advertising". That's not only what it says on every page of Wein-Plus, it's actually the sacred principle of our company.

It is only because we are so strict about this and provide truly objective information that our readers are willing to pay money for this information. After all, we now have well over 6,000 paying subscribers who remain loyal to Wein-Plus - and this in a medium from which most readers are accustomed to using the content free of charge. We are grateful for this enormous trust of our readers and we do our utmost never to disappoint all those who expect absolute neutrality and integrity from us.

Equally important to us is the trust of the winemakers and wineries who send us their wines for review. Unlike other wine guides, we rely on this trust without any ifs or buts. Our evaluations of current wines are always carried out blind and exclusively on the basis of samples sent in, which are tasted in our tasting room. Tastings at trade fairs or at the producer's are not included in the wine guide.

Yes, Wein-Plus is also a company that has to work economically. This is only possible if we offer advertising and other services in addition to what we offer our readers. These offers are also directed at those we evaluate and write about. An extremely difficult area of tension! The current dispute between the wine guide Gault Millau and some vintners shows how sensitively one has to deal with this topic. We cannot and do not want to report on this dispute. In spite of the fact that Gault Millau and Wein-Plus work together as colleagues, Gault Millau is a competitor and it is not our place to judge its actions and fortunes.

All that remains is to disclose how we do things: The reader subscription is also available in an extended version, the so-called "Winzerabo". This special subscription includes many interesting services for winegrowers, such as participation in a framework agreement with a parcel service provider, with which parcels can be sent very cheaply, but certainly also promotional services on Wein-Plus. For example, a winegrower with a winegrower subscription can upload price lists, videos and other information that readers can then click on to the right of the producer's portrait.

However, it is indispensable that none of this has the slightest influence on the assessment of the wines. Our journalistic principles alone should be able to reliably prevent any conscious influence of this kind; however, the tasting, which is without exception blind, additionally eliminates any possible unconscious influence. In addition, the editorial and tasting departments are clearly separated from the sales department in terms of personnel and space.
