Wine is not only a pleasure on the palate. Even in the ears it can be a pleasurable, interesting and educational thing. Since the advent of podcasts, wine can also be enjoyed on the train, in the car, on the bike, while cleaning the house or in the workshop. In times of Corona, a change from everyday life is good anyway - why not broaden your wine horizons a little with exciting, personal and humorous stories? We present podcasts worth listening to that are produced especially for wine fans.

Originalverkorkt

The Hamburg wine blogger, journalist, author and consultant Christoph Raffelt has been writing about wine since 2007 and has been publishing his weekly podcast since 2013. In it, he presents German and international wines that he finds exciting, interviews top winemakers and visits them at their wineries. Raffelt also produces another wine podcast together with the Berlin blogger Holger Klein in his format "WRINT". This is the abbreviation for the Gottfried Benn quote "He who talks is not dead". Published every four weeks or so, the slightly more than one-hour programmes on wines from trendy vintners offer a relaxed, entertaining insight into the world of wine.

"Blind Flight" of the Schnutentunkers

Felix Bodmann, the Berlin wine blogger, author and owner of webweinschule.de, is one of the most high-profile German podcast producers. Under the label "Affected sipping doesn't help", he discusses wines and trendy topics such as "Natural wine fraud?", "Ghosts in viticulture" or "The aroma bar of horror" with photographer and wine freak Sascha Radke every fortnight in his "Blindflug" series. They each pour a wine into a black glass for blind tasting.

Weinstein

In his "Weinstein" podcast on Spotify, secondary school teacher and wine consultant Jan Eißmann produces relaxed conversations with "drinking or non-drinking tips" including information about the vintners or current trends. "Discount wine under the magnifying glass" is just as much a part of the topics as "What is biodynamic viticulture?" or the "Top 3 wine apps". It's casual and entertaining, especially for beginners.

Four bottles

In this podcast, Austrian Michael Kutej, managing director of the Hamburg "Hanse-Lounge", wine lover Lars Haider as well as self-proclaimed "effect drinker" Axel Leonhard and a usually quite prominent guest open four bottles. They talk about their contents and everything you need to know about wines. As interlocutors, for example, the "Friday for future" activist Luisa Neubauer, the FDP politician Wolfgang Kubicki, the restaurateur Gerhard Retter and the Franconian top vintner Paul Fürst discussed topics that interest wine lovers.
