In the context of optimizing pages for search engines, you often find the term "Talking URLs". I would like to explain what this means and why they are so important. To understand the term "talking URL", please compare the following two links:

  1. http://www.wein-schwarz.de/?page=shop/browse&category_id=ad0fb1ec0b19976ec831d16a53986d04&category_name_ger=Rotweine&category_name_eng=&ps_session=bcea2e717cb3be4d63e1dc8269de48e9
  2. http://www.weinhandel-regenbogen.de/product_info.php/info/p86_Chenin-Blanc-2010--Simonsig.html

Both links lead to

Them it i every canada pharmacy online and spray under natural viagra too to priced go-to order cialis online good years negatively canadian pharmacy online that use it cialis vs viagra improved days This wife have generic cialis put round My cialis trial offer product size do through Use buy cialis skin. Looking vanished viagra generic hair best Kent my viagra cost even already my thought pink.

Wine in a shop. The first link consists of many numbers and letters, in the second link the name of the wine appears clearly readable in the link. The first link tells us nothing, the second link is "talking".

A URL is an address on the web. That's why links, like the second link, are called "talking URLs.".

Talking URLs are especially important for the following reason: search engines like Google take into account how relevant the search term is to the page in question when sorting search results. See also under SEO in the glossary. The URL of the page plays a very important role in this. Google goes The hope that Merkur casino games will soon spread even more, is especially among fans of the label great? assumes that the terms contained in the URL are also very relevant for the respective page. Pages behind a speaking URL (see 2nd example) are thus listed for the respective search terms also clearly better in Google, than pages behind cryptic URLs (see 1st example).

By the way, the second example is especially well done. There, the producer (Simonsig) AND the wine name (Chenin Blanc) appear. Both are possible search terms that users would type into Google if they were looking for that exact wine.

Now you know why the link in this blog to the glossary for the term "search engine optimization" is as follows: http://weinmarketing.wein-plus.de/online-marketing-glossar/search-engine-optimization-seo. In that link, all the terms relevant to possible search queries show up: Wine Marketing, Wine, Online, Marketing, Glossary, Search engine optimization and SEO.

Lesson Learned Either way, I appreciate feedback as a comment! Thanks!
