Even though the "Stuttgart wine village" will no longer take place on the Hamburg town hall market: The vineyard at the Stintfang above the Landungsbrücken remains. As the Hamburger Abendblatt reports, winegrower Fritz Currle from Stuttgart-Uhlbach will continue to cultivate the small vineyard.

The vineyard, which is one of the northernmost in Germany, was planted in 1995 as a gift from the landlords of the "Stuttgarter Weindorf" to the Hamburg parliament. It now consists of 100 vines of the two fungus-resistant varieties Regent and Phoenix. Currle has taken care of the care and harvest of the grapes since the plantation and presses a cuvée from them in his winery. The wine is not sold, but given away by the citizens to guests of the town or used for charitable purposes.

"I am very pleased that Fritz Currle has offered to continue tending our vineyard with expertise and passion and to produce the Stintfang cuvée", the Abendblatt quotes the President of the Hamburg State Parliament Carola Veit. "In this way we are continuing a tradition in Hamburg that goes back many decades. The leaving of the Stuttgart wine village on the Rathausmarkt is regrettable, but has no effect on our friendship.

The wine festival with Württemberg wines and specialities took place for 30 years on the market place in front of the Hamburg town hall. After the exemption from fees that had been in effect since 1987 was to be abolished in 2016, the "Pro Stuttgart" association cancelled the "Stuttgart wine village" last year. In January of this year, all future events were cancelled, according to the Abendblatt.
