The German Young Sommelier of the Year 2023 is Sebastian Vögele and comes from Überlingen (Württemberg). The winners of the annual competition organised by the Sommelier-Union Deutschland and the magazine "Sommelier" were awarded at ProWein. Katharina Iglesias from the Winebank in Hamburg and Oliver Adler from the Waldhotel Sonnora in Dreis placed behind Vögele.
Vögele completed sommelier training at the German Wine and Sommelier School (DWS) in Koblenz, a bachelor's degree in international wine business at Geisenheim University and gained practical experience at the Dr. Heger**** and Rudolf Fürst***** wineries as well as in the wine trade at "Weinfurore" in Munich.
He convinced the jury not only with his comprehensive wine knowledge, but also with his eloquence and charm.
